4th WINTER ACADEMY OF INTERNATIONAL LAW 2020

“Rohingya: An Exodus to Legal Purgatory”

WAIL 2020 focuses on the phenomenon of Rohingyan Refugees and Statelessness alongside its core program dedicated to Syrian Refugees in Turkey. Rohingya question is increasingly becoming a key issue for both the international community and Turkish society. As WAIL is a combination of national and international law related to refugees, this year’s focus will be Rohingyan refugees.

Istanbul University, Faculty of Law

ICIL Students, Turkish and foreign law students particularly advanced bachelor and graduate students as well as practitioners.

  • For ICIL students and Istanbul University Faculty of Law students: 350 TL
  • For other bachelor and master students from other Turkish universities: 700 TL
  • For professionals and foreign students: 200 Euro

IMPORTANT: As the fees are kept at a reasonable level, we cannot offer any kind of scholarship or tuition waiver.

Please submit your motivation letter (max. 350 words) and your CV in English as one PDF file to wail2020@icil.org.tr. Please name the document as “SurnameName_WAIL2020” for example “DoeJohn_WAIL2020″.

General application deadline: 25 January 2020 (Applicants who need visa to enter Turkey should arrange their visa in advance. Applicants are responsible for this process).

IMPORTANT: We will evaluate applications on rolling-basis. Therefore, early application is highly recommended.

Application deadline for ICIL and Istanbul University, Faculty of Law students: 7 December 2019. After 7 December 2019, the applications will be deemed under the category of regular Turkish students.

  • We can only provide an invitation letter after the payment of the full tuition fee. If you need visa to enter Turkey, please submit your application in advance.
  • Participants are responsible for their own accommodation and food.
  • %80 participation rate is mandatory to be awarded the certificate of participation.
  • We cannot offer any ECTS credits for the winter academy.
