Mr. Áquila Mazzinghy has been working as a lecturer and guest professor since 2011 in a number of law schools. During this time, he has been teaching the disciplines of Public International Law, International Criminal Law as well as International Human Rights Law. He has also spoken in a large number of law conferences. At the Istanbul Center of International Law – ICIL, he has been serving as a guest lecturer of Public International Law. Mr. Mazzinghy has also served as an intern in several capacities, such as the Mission Permanente du Brésil auprès de l’ONU à Genève and the War Crimes Research Office in Washington-DC.

Mr. Mazzinghy´s academic work is focused in the intersection of war and the international protection of children. He is currently achieving outstanding performance in his PhD in International Criminal Law at the Koç University Law School (Turkey), under the supervision of distinguished professor Dr. Murat Önok. Mr. Mazzinghy´s research primarily focuses on the crimes committed by ISIL (Daesh) in Iraq. He is a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B, UFV-Brazil) and completed his Master in Humanitarian and Human Rights Law at the Washington College of Law (US). His most recent published papers concerned the protection of children´s rights under the Inter-American and the European Courts of Human Rights. He has also been licensed as a lawyer in Brazil since 2012.
