Winter Academy of International Law (WAIL) brings together students from all over the world in Istanbul to promote International Refugee Law (IRL) among the students and young professionals. Each year WAIL covers a contemporary issue of IRL and aims to become an academic platform for discussion among scholars, professionals, and students.

Winter Academy of International Law provides lectures both on fundamental issues and contemporary aspects of International Refugee Law. The Academy also benefits from the position of Turkey as a country that hosts millions of refugees and organizes meetings with NGOs and State officials – including the Migration Office – in addition to inviting practitioners as lecturers.

The Academy is aimed at master’s degree students, Ph.D. candidates, young professionals, and researchers. Advanced undergraduate students of law, international relations, and other related areas are also encouraged to apply.

Since 2017, WAIL has hosted students from more than 30 countries.
